“Lioness Arising” by Lisa Bevere {November Book of the Month}

Here is the second edition of H4HH #bookofthemonth! Lioness Arising by Lisa Bevere. Lisa and her husband John both write, travel, preach and teach as well as founded their organization Messenger International.

Lions are powerful, majestic, and terrifyingly beautiful and strike up an awestruck wonder when you catch a glimpse of them. The King of the Jungle. But what is a King without His Queen? But what is a Lion without His Lioness? As a kid I loved The Lion King and just recently watched the live action remake that came out earlier this year, they are simply breathtaking creatures. In this book Lisa takes the characteristics and beauty of the female lioness and compares it to us-daughters of Christ, sisters of the pride, the bride of Christ. Jesus is the Lion of Judah, the King and the Church is His bride-we are the Lioness joining Her King.

The imagery and detail described in this riveting and inspiring book took alot of study and research on Lisa’s part. I learned so much about lions and other large felines of prey and their lifestyles. Things like their night vision (the ability to reflect light from their eyes in darkness), their hunting strategies are a team effort, their unmistakable sense of scent and intuition, their fearless protection and nurturing of all cubs not just their own offspring, and their confidence as they walk boldly. I cannot began to describe how awakened and empowered this book made me feel by opening my eyes. We are much like lionesses: strong, beautiful, fierce and does not hunt alone, resourceful and intelligent, protects the young and nurtures them, roaring together in a collective declaration, she rests and rises alongside her King. We are brothers and sisters who hunt strategically against the enemy who tries to steal, kill, and destroy by pretending and thinking he’s a lion (Satan) seeking whom he may devour but when you walk with the true Lion of Judah (Jesus) you can always sense out the counterfeit outsiders who are not part of their pride (the body of Christ, the Church). There is nothing tame or safe about the love of God, it’s reckless and wild and this life as a Christian in a dark world requires roaring boldness. The lioness knows when it is time to rest and recline in the beauty of the midday sun as she naps without worry, therefore she rises and awakens with renewed strength ready for whatever. If you have noticed a theme with my writings and the books I’ve read lately, it’s learning how to say no, fight back with courage and strength in the everyday battles of life in the war against darkness. The Best Yes, Breakthroughs & Battlefields: Taking Back What God Gave You, and No More are all connected, then finishing up Lioness Arising (which took me awhile to finish like The Best Yes) has awakened a strength that I had let slumber and forgot it was there. I suggest picking up a copy for yourself…niw if you’ll excuse me I have some more Lysa Terkeurst and Lisa Bevere books on my must read list! Arise dear lioness sister, we are most “dangerous to the enemy” when we are alert and “fully awake”.

-Your sister lioness,

Heather

Breakthroughs and Battlefields: Taking back what God gave you

Sickness and healing. Oppression and freedom. Spiritual warfare. What we can’t see but feel in every fiber of your being. The invisible enemy, if we were to put on spiritual glasses we would be afraid. Scripture says we fight the principalities of darkness and evil. Ever since sin came and wrecked the perfect world God created, we have been fighting this war. Eden was just the first battle.

Did you know that every single day is a battle? Every single day, we make conscientious choices and decisions. Decisions that can be self destructive or cultivating fertile ground for spiritual growth. You choose to do the right or wrong thing. We think about what we say. What we do. What we wear. What we eat. What we accomplish and fail at. Everything is by choice. God gave humanity free will and the power to chose. Adam and Eve made that first choice. We’ve been making them ever since.

What do you face? Anxiety? Depression? Stress? Addiction? Abuse? Adultery? Obessesive Compulsiveness? Eating Disorders? Infertility? Insecurity? Abandonment and dependency issues? Negative self talk? Negative self image? Suicidal thoughts? Gossip? Generational Curses? Disease? Sickness? Cancer? What holds you back? What is it that holds you prisoner? What is your biggest battle you face?

Chained. Bound. Locked into a battle that you really never chose. A war you wanted no part of by choice…but the war is on your ground. The battle for your heart and soul. Spiritual warfare. I’ve often heard it said, if we were to put on spiritual glasses to the realm of angels and demons it would terrify us. When Lucifer was banished from heaven, a third of the angels went with him…demons. We don’t just fight physical fist-to-cuffs, we fight forces of darkness, deceit, and destruction. The ultimate age old tale of good versus evil. This isn’t a movie script, it’s real warfare.

My chains were fear and anxiety and depression all linked together to one another as if they were a team. As I grew older that fear would shape shift and change into a different kind: insecurity, inadequacy, being not good enough, missing out or feeling left out, which happened a lot. Fear has a younger sibling that is equally as paralyzing called anxiety. I dealt with anxiety and nervousness that crippled me at times. I would find excuses and let things hold me back. Depression-mine was not caused by any traumatic life altering event. Little by little the seeds of doubt, fear and anxiety grew into a root of depression deep down, so deep you would’ve never known it was there until I told you. I’d think about people and things I’d lost and become sad. I’d think about the future and become anxious full of “I don’t knows” and “what ifs”. The enemy’s biggest war tactic is fear. As followers of Christ, we are walking with the Lion of Judah, fierce and royal in all power. You see, the devil walks around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour meaning he pretends to be like a fierce lion but he’s a scaredy little kitty. The masquerade and cunningness are no match for a trained army of angels.

Let me tell you something, the enemy can’t take what isn’t his in the first place. This world did not create or give you joy, therefore this world cannot steal your joy! Satan did not create your life, God the Creator & Father did, Satan has no right to what’s not his-especially those who truly belong to Christ. If you don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ, the enemy can try his best to take you because simply you don’t know your true identity. You are a child of the Most High God. If you are NOT a believer and follower of Christ, demons in fact can possess you. If you are a believer and follower of Christ, they can merely attach themselves to you but not fully possess you. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! Jesus sets free every captive. He has the key, let Him in. Every chain can be broken!

Enough is enough. Time to stand up. Take a stand.

No more sitting idly by and watch the world fall by the wayside. Sin running rampant and ruining lives. Not today Satan. Not on this disciple’s watch.

I am good enough. You are good enough. Don’t believe Satan’s same ole lie over and over. We are all equipped, its just a matter of whether or not you pick up your armor and weapons or let them rust away. I am better than the lies from the enemy that thwart and twist the real truth, no one is better than or less than. Every doubt, fear, and worry and insecurity fades away.

You must call out everything by its name…cancer and sickness, depression, addiction, anything and everything. God’s rule with demons they have to identify themselves or any afflictions must flee. You must call them out, and tell them to leave IN THE NAME OF JESUS and they then have no right or authority.

Every chain of depression, disease, generational curses, addictions, pain will break at His name!

Take back your heart. Put it in the hands of the One who created it. The only acceptable surrender is to God, not others. No more Christian nice girl, this princess wears armor not just a crown. Suit up, sis.

Here’s a little detailed description of our tactical gear:

The breastplate of righteousness: guarding your heart, a breastplate or chestpiece serves the purpose of a modern day bulletproof vest, protecting your most vital organ- Scripture states in Proverbs 4:23 to “guard your heart”.

The helmet of salvation: it’s important to not only guard our heart but also our minds. The first place the enemy usually attacks is our thoughts.

The shield of faith: to block the fiery darts of the enemy. It can feel like things are coming at you from every direction like air missiles and flaming arrows-your faith reminds you no matter what the situation you will be fine. This is made specifically for spiritual warfare.

The belt of truth: The belt holds everything else together, just as the truth holds and binds everything together.

The shoes of peace: to cover your feet, to protect and to guide us with grace in the right direction when we carry the Gospel wherever we go, we spread peace.

The sword of the Spirit: The only piece of armor that is an actual weapon of defense, the rest are protective gear. The Bible. God’s word is the ultimate death blow to every ambush from the enemy. The Sword of the Spirit is sharp and double edged, cutting through anything. Warding off evil.

To dig more in depth, here’s the passage:
Ephesians 6:10-18 New International Version (NIV)

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Now that you have your strategy, the boundary lines have been drawn, the enemy’s tactics and your armor…go prep for battle! But remember the war is already won, just keep fighting.

No More

Enough is enough. Time to stand up. Take a stand.

No more Christian nice girl. Being nice is easy. The hard the thing is being nice when it has become something people use to their advantage on you. Not happening anymore.

No more being a doormat to others, I refuse to being walked over.

No more letting others’ opinions of me or what they think “I should do” rule how I do things in my life.

No more being disrespected or looked over as my opinions or ideas don’t matter.

No more guilt tripping from others. Your happiness and mood does NOT depend on me or my shoulders, and mine certainly doesn’t depend on you. Your responsibilities don’t belong on my shoulders. My responsibilities belong to me. God gave them to me, I will be a good steward.

No more sitting idly by and watch the world fall by the wayside. Sin running rampant and ruin lives. Not today Satan.

No more wasting time and energy.

No more worrying what others think of me. Their opinions do not determine or define my worth or value.

No more feeling inadequate. No more feeling insecure. No more feeling less than or better than.

No more feeling judged. No more feeling left out.

No more believing the lies of the enemy. No more settling for less.

No more negative self-talk.

No more niceness being mistaken naivety. Being a nice and good wholesome is not a free ticket to be treated as if you are dumb.

No more worry. No more doubt. No more fear.

Enough is enough.

I am good enough. You are good enough. I am better than the lies from the enemy that thwart and twist the real truth, no one is better than or less than. Every doubt, fear, and worry and insecurity fades away.

Take back your heart. Put it in the hands of the One who created it. The only acceptable surrender is to God, not others. Declaration of dependence on God alone. Declaration of defiance to the enemy. No more Christian nice girl, this princess wears armor not just a crown. Suit up, sis.
